Experienced Healthcare Leader Sam Lee of Prospect Medical Holdings
A distinguished healthcare executive, Sam Lee has more than 30 years of experience in the healthcare and technology industries, including healthcare and technology private equity, operational leadership, revenue cycle management, and healthcare software development. Sam Lee laid the foundation for his career at the Georgia Institute of Technology, where he earned a bachelor of science in engineering, and at Harvard Business School, where he earned a master of business administration. Earlier in his career, he was a partner at Kline Hawkins & Co., a venture capital firm focused on healthcare and technology. He later cofounded Alta Hospitals, Inc., and led the company to a successful merger with Prospect Medical Holdings, Inc., in 2007.
Since then, Sam Lee is the Chairman of Prospect Medical, which manages more than 165 outpatient clinics in addition to 17 acute care and behavioral health hospitals in California, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Connecticut, and Rhode Island. The company’s facilities have received several national and regional awards for patient care and safety. Under Mr. Lee’s leadership, the company prioritizes regular facility upgrades so it can provide the highest level of service possible. In addition, Prospect Medical invests in local charitable care programs and hosts events to promote community health. For example, Waterbury HEALTH in Connecticut administered $1.6 million in charitable care in 2020 alone. This local health network also supports more than 100 community organizations and nonprofits in the Waterbury area.
Alongside his duties with Prospect Medical, Sam Lee remains an active member of the Young Presidents’ Organization. Historically, he has served on the boards of several community organizations with important missions. These organizations include the California Science Center, the I Have a Dream Foundation, and the Hospital Association of Southern California. Mr. Lee has also remained connected to his alma maters by serving on the boards of the Harvard Business School Healthcare Initiative and the Georgia Tech Industrial & Systems Engineering School.
